A hangover sucks, especially when you have to get up early in the morning and in this small post I’m going to tell you how you can avoid or prevent a hangover. I’m not going to waste precious words on what alcohol does to your internal system and why you shouldn’t indulge in binge drinking because I know you are intelligent enough to know what you do and don’t want to do.
So here’s how you can avoid or treat a hangover
- Drink slowly: Our body is intelligent. It breaks down the effect of alcohol you consume so that it can easily absorb it. The problem starts when you gulp down lots of alcohol in a small amount of time. Take it slowly and the affect will be mild. Don’t show off like a moron. Ability to drink lots of alcohol is not a strength, it’s a weakness.
- Eat some food before drinking: Empty stomach revolts more against alcohol.
- Avoid beverages that cause dehydration: Avoid having tea or coffee before you take alcohol because these beverage cause dehydration and alcohol too causes dehydration which is a big cause of hangover. Also avoid sugar as that too causes dehydration.
- Drink lots of water: To counter the problem mentioned just above. If you forgot to drink water before consuming alcohol, have lots of it (water) before going to bed.
- Before you start drinking, take vitamin C and vitamin B, but not on empty stomach while you already have a hangover, as this can induce vomiting.
- When you wake up: Drink tons of water and eat carbohydrates. To replenish your sugar level and electrolytes drink some sports drink or have an orange and then take more vitamin B and C. If you fortunate enough and don’t have to go to work you can go back to sleep for an hour, drink more water, and have some protein. The hangover should subside by now.
After every hangover, promise yourself never to drink like this again
