How To Deal With Friends That Need Financial Help

by Sarah Watts

Do you have a friend or two who always need some sort of financial help almost every month? Not even friends, I’ve encountered even close relatives that are always asking for money because they never plan their own finances. After a while it becomes difficult to keep giving them money. If you are financially comfortable, it is not bothersome money wise, but you begin to feel irked by constantly being manipulated into giving money for one reason or another.

This not only strains your relationship — at least from your side — it is also bad for the person because then he or she comes running to you the moment they need money. What should you do?

I think the best way to deal is give some sound advise indiscreetly.  I’m not saying the moment someone asks you for money you go into your alert mode; sometimes the need is genuine and unavoidable. But if you feel there is a pattern developing, then start telling that person how he or she can manage his or her finances better. A post at Pick The Brain tells you how to do that.

Back to your topic, I have some friends that don't have money or need some financial help. I always tell them "If you don't have money for internet go to library, open some blog monetize your blog and make some extra cash. Or apply for better job and stop eating out". :)
