Professional blogging doesn’t just involve running your own blog and generating ad revenue from it (although I think it is the best form of professional blogging); you can also be a professional blogger if you get freelance blogging work. With thousands of blogs being started everyday it’s very easy to get freelance blogging work provided you know how to look for it and how pitch. Oh yes, I’ve been doing freelance blogging work for quite some time now and since almost all my posts end up on the first page of Google I get paid pretty decent amount for writing blog posts for other bloggers. I mentioned this just to prove that people ARE actually getting some good freelance blogging work.
Of course first of all you should be running your own blog before you try to get some freelance blogging work. This way you can showcase your work when you approach clients. It shows your clients that you know the ins and outs of blogging and you are actually interested in the work. You need to remember blogging, especially freelance professional blogging, needs to be a good mix of formal and informal writing you need to strike a good balance. Problogger has an excellent post on how to get your first freelance blogging gig by Chris Garrett who runs a great blogging forum and you can actually interact in this forum to get some good freelance blogging work. I remember getting 2-3 freelance blogging offers just by posting a single message there; unfortunately I didn’t have time to take up new assignments, as I mentioned in my previous blog post titled How To Work Less And Achieve More.
