Trying to follow your dreams is not as dreamy as it seems. The problem is to most of us the expression "I want to follow my dreams" sounds too esoteric and unrealistic, and to some even scary. It sounds very bookish. At a time when we are trapped in the rat race of getting that promotion or buying that car or moving to a posh area where do the dreams stand? Who has the time to think about dreams leave alone pursuing them? Getting up early in the morning, spending time in the drudgery of office, coming back totally tired already seems like a gigantic achievement.
The sad thing is we are capable of achieving so much but we let the everyday life lead us. As children we’re not scared to dream. Some children even want to turn into their favorite animals, such is the feral nature of our dreams. That as we grow up the so called the realities of life changed the perception of dreams and we become more concerned towards day-to-day existence. This leaves no time for dreaming. Then of course there is TV and the Internet.
Fortunately whether we accept it or not we all have dreams and we all want to follow our dreams. The best way to make the beginning is defining your dream: give a shape to your dream. A blog post at The Simple Dollar tells you how to do it.
