How to handle difficult customers

Whether you work as a freelancer or you manage an entire organization sooner or later you come across customers that are purely a pain in the you-know-what. Since it may happen quite often you must find a solution to handle difficult customers. Sometimes the difficulty does not lie with the customer but with the person providing the service or the product so you have to keep that angle to in your mind while trying to figure out why a particular customer is so bothersome? Maybe there is no communication or whatever little communication you have it is totally misdirected.
Before labeling a customer as a “difficult customer” try to find the answer and see if the situation can be improved. Remember that one disgruntled customer can make scores of prospective customers avoid you. So before jumping to conclusions analyze what you can do at your end.
