How To Improve Your Concentration
Once you learn to improve your concentration you can remember a lot in a very short time. This is not the only reason why you should improve your concentration; an improved concentration also enables you to focus better and understand complicated information structures easily. The ability to concentrate better also helps in your scholarly and career pursuits. A better concentration helps you focus and gather your thoughts with minimum effort. I noticed that whenever I can concentrate well I finish my writing assignments quickly and in fact the time is reduced by even 50%!
If you want to improve your concentration first of all you should make yourself ready for it. The moment you decide that you want to concentrate your brain becomes more receptive. Next, remove all possible distractions. Many people can concentrate quite well even amidst numerous distractions but if you are just starting then it is better to either remove the distractions or get away from them. Try concentrating on things that you like; it isn’t necessary that you try concentrating on your professional work at the outset. Focus on something that you like, for instance some interesting piece of writing, some short story, or some mathematical puzzle. If nothing else just sit quietly and try to empty your brain of all the clutter. Meditation too can help you a lot. It also helps if you are totally relaxed and there is nothing that is bugging you.
Improving your concentration is not as hard as it seems; you just need to be eager to learn to concentrate and the rest follows easily. John at Zen Habits tells you how to do it.
