Ubuntu is undoubtedly considered the best Linux distribution. If you are planning to make "the switch" you’ll have to learn and de-learn many things and you may not be able to use tools and software that you are so used to using till now. So only play around with Ubuntu if you can do without things you normally use on your computer or laptop, or use some space computer to try your hand at it.
