A few weeks ago I wrote about how to keep Outlook running in the background so that you can make use of its various “notifications” features. But I don’t use Outlook, I use Thunderbird. I need to know how to keep Thunderbird running in the background. There is no feature in Thunderbird that can keep it running in the background; you need to install a plugin called Thunderbird-Tray. Thunderbird-Tray is a freeware. Once it is installed, it keeps running in the system tray. Whenever you want Thunderbird to run in the background, simply “minimize” it. And when you want Thunderbird back, simply double-click the Thunderbird-Tray icon in the system tray.
