How to keep your pet healthy during summer heat
The summer heat can be excruciating for pets. They can easily get heatstroke, stomach upsets, dehydrated and even various skin infections. Although it is a good idea to give your pet, especially your dog, a good exercise on a routine basis, it is advised that you should keep your pet indoors when the summer is at its peak. Make sure that your pet’s living conditions are comfortably cool and pleasant. When your dog pants excessively, shows signs of disorientation and vomits it means he or she is suffering from a heat stroke and needs immediate attention. If such a situation arises try to bring your dog’s body temperature back to normal; but it doesn’t mean submerging your dog in icy water. Give your dog some water to drink and gradually dab it’s fur with water. It is always better to take your pet to a veterinarian as soon as possible.
Similarly, situations like snakebite, the bursting of crackers, poisoning, fight with other animals, road accidents, and all sorts of illnesses can traumatize your pet and you should be able to take the appropriate steps in time. This article can help you know what to do to keep your pet healthy and happy in the heat of summer.
