With blogging networks cropping up everywhere the moment a few bloggers get together and start talking about blogging they launch a blogging network. There are obviously pros and cons of participating in a blogging network or launching one. Some of the pros of a blogging network are:

  • Coming together of similarly themed blogs
  • Greater Exposure to lesser known blogs
  • Better organization of the overall content
  • Improved and professional management of blogs and their content
  • Higher advertising revenues

Some of the cons of participating in a blogging network are:

  • Editorial constraints
  • Design constraints
  • Content constraints
  • Revenue constraints
  • Lack of independence

But personally I feel there are more pros than cons of launching a blogging network or participating in one. Launching A blogging network can be a big of a small exercise; it all depends on your blogging plans. I know about a blogging network that is totally nonprofit and its members don’t plan to earn any revenue off the blogging network; their only interested in highlighting socially relevant block posts.

A commercial blogging network on the other hand requires lots of capital and effort and a very high level of management; it’s just like running another business. This blog post lays down a few steps that you should take before launching a blogging network.
