How To Use Images For SEO
Do you know you can get lots of traffic when people search for images on the Internet and then find your images? Although personally I’m not sure how much business such traffic can generate, but some people experience great increase in their traffic, and higher rankings when they optimize their images for image search engines like Google Image Search and Yahoo image search facility. Here’s how you can use your web images for SEO and rank your images higher in the search engines:
- Use keywords when naming your images. Instead of having an image as image678.gif you should name it as coffee-making.gif if it depicts someone making coffee.
- Use keywords in the text around the images. The text around the image should contain your keywords to convey to the search engines that the theme of your web page and your image are related.
- Use proper labels for your image. For that you can use this Google labeler.
- Use your keyword in the ALT text attribute, and this means never leave your ALT text attribute blank.
- If you are using the image as a hyperlink, then use the keyword in the title attribute of the <a tag.
