How To Use Your Mental Energy Productively

by Sarah Watts on September 26, 2007

When we are in action there two energies at play:

  • Physical energy
  • Mental energy

We need mental energy to perform productively. Sometime we have lots of mental energy and we have no idea how to tap it. Sometime we consciously or unconsciously indulge in activities that drain out our mental energy. Using mental energy productively means

  • Recognizing mental energy
  • Channelizing mental energy
  • Replenishing mental energy

You can recognize mental energy when you feel very alert and you are very interested in doing what you are about to do. By performing the right tasks and avoiding the wrong or redundant tasks you can direct your mental energy towards greater productivity. When you feel tired or drained out you either need to rest or perform tasks that help you replenish your mental energy. All these steps of tapping your mental energy are covered in a blog post titled Mastering Productivity: Energy.
