Mozilla has been quietly working on its own operating system called Firefox OS for smart phones and tablet computers. It primarily utilizes the abilities of HTML 5 and JavaScript. Right now it can be tested on Android-compatible smart phones. The project name is “Boot to Gecko”. Being a primarily browser company, Mozilla aims to create an operating system that runs web-based applications just as machine-based applications.
